The Future of Offshore Supply

A new modular platform supply vessel, where design opportunities are explored to increase efficiency, safety and flexibility of cargo handling.

The goal for this project is to explore the future of platform supply vessels, and challenge the traditional way that the maritime industry designs and use offshore vessels. The result is a new platform supply vessel concept that attempts to increase efficiency, safety and flexibility of cargo handling. Container-like accommodation can be added to the vessel itself to meet demands of different scenarios.

The key feature of the new design is the attachable unit on the hind that works like a trailer on water. This unit can, for example, be designed as a cargo-unit or a sub-sea installment unit. The MPS (Multi Purpose SWATH) concept is designed to be a modular platform that can adapt to a great variety of operations. The vessel itself is a minimised structure containing only what is needed to get the job done. Lastly, the reduced accommodation area makes it a more efficient solution compared to today’s offshore vessel designs.
