Happiness has to do with playing and having fun, and that includes going out and being active. The designer sets out to awaken the natural instinct to move with a vehicle design that trains balance and reflexes in a completely new way.
The core driving mechanism of a classical bicycle (a wheel connected to a crank set) is retained but pretty much everything else is redesigned. The result: a vehicle that trains balance and reflexes in a completely new way. Halfbike is a light, compact and simple vehicle that combines running and cycling. The user stands upright and simply makes a turn by leaning the body to one side. The ride is smooth and intuitive.
Halfbike is suitable for short distances and when a longer distance has to be travelled, it can be paired with the use of public transport. Halfbike is compact enough for an elevator, light enough to carry up flights of stairs and fits into spaces too small for a normal bike. The emphasis is on the clear and minimalistic design, as well as the optimised details.
