ArcSeat

This seating concept for the theatre overcomes the discomfort and awkwardness of sharing an armrest.

Red Dot Award
One problem often encountered in the theatre is the discomfort created by the shared armrest. By shifting the seats into an angular arrangement, with the left or right seat in a forward position, this problem can be resolved. Two people who are sharing an armrest can both now use it without interfering with each other.

Since every seat is arranged at a certain angle, the seats in a row create an arc shape. The arc-shaped passageways between the seats have another advantage, say the designers; they improve the flow of people to and from the aisles during entry and exit. This could be especially useful in an emergency situation.
