Animal Friendly Trash Can

Animal Friendly Trash Can addresses the problem of starvation among stray animal populations. It incorporates a space at its base where people leave leftover food.

Honourable Mention
In many towns and cities, stray cats and dogs wander the streets. Some of them die due to starvation. Others jump into trashcans in search of food, potentially becoming locked inside. Meanwhile, 1,300 million tonnes of food are wasted around the world every year.

Animal Friendly Trash Can addresses animal welfare as well as food wastage. It provides a space at its base specifically for the placement of leftover food that would otherwise be thrown away. The upper part of the trashcan is for the normal disposal of rubbish. The lower part has a small opening and a pull out tray, where food can be left for animals. The tray can be removed for cleaning. The cute and colourful lid on the top of the trashcan encourages fond feelings and more consideration of stray animals.
