Continued investment in design and innovation capability
The Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 honours enterprise and institutions who have continuously pursued design excellence. The ranking is computed using a weighted formula considering the cumulative number and classes of awards received over recent five years. The Red Dot Design Ranking released by the Red Dot Institute consists of four honourary lists for Companies, Design Studios, Universities in Asia Pacific and Universities in Americas and Europe.
Red Dot founder and CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec explains: “This ranking tracks and measures the success of an enterprise in producing exciting new design concepts over a period of time. It is a good reflection of real sustainable design innovation capability of an organisation. It gives these companies and institutions the recognition that they deserve and encouragement toward their continued investment in design”.
Topping and maintaining their rankings this year are KT Corporation (South Korea), in the category for companies; Emami Design (Germany) in the category for Design Studios; Zhejiang University (China) in the category for Universities in the Asia Pacific region. Meanwhile, Umeå Institute of Design (Sweden) rose to the top rank in the category for Universities in Americas & Europe.
