Red Dot Award for Design Concept 2018 received an unprecedented 5,640 entries this year, a 19% increase in submissions from 55 countries. The award has grown to be the largest and most recognised professional design competition for design concept and prototypes worldwide. Winners from all over the world will be flying in to Singapore to receive their award on stage this 28th September 2018.

This year, three Red Dot: Best of the Best concepts were nominated for the top award. Red Dot: Luminary is the highest achievement at the design competition and serves as an inspiration to aspire towards, and is selected among the Red Dot: Best of the Best recipients. The nominees include MOTOROiD from the mobility category by Japanese Yamaha Motor Co Ltd, a proof-of-concept electric motorcycle prototype that employs AI and Yamaha-exclusive technologies aimed at creating an entirely new personal mobility experience.

Also nominated for the Red Dot: Luminary is the Red Dot: Best of the Best winner from the illumination category by German SCHOTT AG, SCHOTT® LuminaLine, an aesthetic high-tech lighting concept that shines with its versatility and improves life in many ways.

Lastly, Red Dot: Best of the Best winner from culinary category, Cookacross by Iranian Zaviè Design Studio, has also been nominated for the top award. Cookacross is a built-in cooktop with a fully customisable heating surface for more enjoyable cooking experience.

Only concepts with the highest design merit which won over the Red Dot jury were awarded the Red Dot. The results of Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2018 will be announced this 28th September 2018. The winner of the award’s top accolade, the Red Dot: Luminary, will also be announced during the awarding ceremony.
