Eligibility
Participation extends to all designers, design studios, companies, research laboratories, inventors, design professionals and students from anywhere in the world are eligible to enter.
All kinds of inventions, novelty designs and aesthetic designs that are not in the market, and not produced for sale before 1 December 2009 can be entered. Award decisions are taken on the concept presentations directly by the jury during the adjudication process.
Eligibility conditions
Inclusion in the red dot design museum
Subject to a fee, each winning design concept will be presented in the permanent exhibition in the red dot design museum for at least one year.
Inclusion in the Online Exhibition
All winning design concepts will be displayed in the online exhibition for at least a year. The display in the online exhibition equates to the text and image material in the yearbook entry.
Inclusion in the Yearbook
In return for a fee, each winning design concept will be presented on at least half of a page in the yearbook. The winner of the “red dot: best of the best” will be exclusively presented on at least 1 page. Inclusion in the year book is compulsory for red dot design award winners. All winning individuals, groups, companies or institutions will receive at least one copy upon publication.
Communications Service
Each winner will automatically receive the basic communications service kit. This consists of a “data package” for labelling, as well as the design manual. The acceptance of this basic kit is compulsory for every winning product.
