AshPlate is a public ashtray for smoking zones. Clean, convenient, and easy-to-maintain, it offers a more pleasant smoking environment.
Many smokers dislike public smoking zones. The ashtrays in these zones are often full of stubs and look unappealing. AshPlate has been designed to offer a clean and pleasant environment for smokers, and to make a contribution towards a cleaner city. It is based on the notion that stubbing out a cigarette was derived from the action of stamping it out by foot. Cigarette stubs and ash are collected beneath AshPlate. The floor plate form was derived after a study of smokers’ postures. Sitting, standing, and squatting were found to be the most typical postures adopted. Each of these is suitable to the use of AshPlate, which allows the space within a smoking zone to remain flexible.
