Rescue Balloon is a simple device that can assist rescuers to locate lost or injured people in dense forest.
It can be difficult for rescue teams to locate hikers or campers who have had an accident or become lost in a forest; the dense tree canopies impede visibility from the air. Rescue Balloon is a simple locating device – a tubular, helium-filled balloon that is narrow enough to fit through gaps between branches and rise above the canopy. Since it is not dependant on high technology (such as a GPS system), Rescue Balloon is convenient to carry and use. It can be easily inflated through a nozzle made with rubber and magnets (which holds the balloon in an upright position). Helium is lighter than the air we breathe, so the balloon will rise naturally. |
