Germs can be left outside the home and the mind can be put at ease with Fresh Hands – a digital door lock in the form of a faucet that cleans the hands with soap vapour before you go inside.
Cleaning the hands can prevent a number of diseases. Seventy per cent of cases of infection with disease are made via the hands. However, when most people arrive home, they do many things before cleaning their hands. If we can change the order of these actions and clean our hands before entering the house, a much cleaner environment can be maintained.
Fresh Hands is a digital door lock in the form of a faucet that allows visitors and the family to clean their hands before entering the house. The hands are cleaned with soap vapour simply by being positioning under the faucet before the door is opened. The product has been designed to bring to mind an image of a faucet so its use is mentally associated with the action of washing one’s hands under a tap.
The product identifies the user via their thumbprint, which is recognised by a built-in sensor. Alternately, an access number can be entered on the touch pad at the front of the product. A hand-shaped LED icon communicates that the user has been identified.
When the hands are placed beneath the product, lighting projected below indicates the cleaning range. After a few seconds (during which the hand position can be adjusted), soap vapour will be sprayed. The LED icon changes to a water droplet shape that indicates how much soap is left in the soap storage chamber on the opposite side of the door. Seconds later, the door can be opened. |
