Walnut Player

Walnut Player is a mobile music system for which inspiration was drawn from traditional Chinese medicine balls.

The Chinese practice of rolling iron medicine balls (or “Baoding Balls”) in the hand is thought to be beneficial for one’s health as it stimulates the hand’s pressure points. In ancient times, the balls were sometimes made with walnut. Walnut Player is a mobile music system. It is charged via a similar revolving motion, so it does not require any extra power supply. The user’s haptic experience of the Walnut Player extends to its menu, which incorporates Braille. Thus, the visually impaired may also listen to music and radio with this interactive product.
