Dental Paper is a conceptual ‘toothpaste paper’ that is dispensed from a small portable case. It was designed to bring convenience to the act of brushing one’s teeth on the go.
Brushing one’s teeth before a meeting is a basic habit of etiquette for many people. However, toothpaste is not the most convenient of products to carry around. The tubes can be ruptured and the caps can come off, potentially resulting in an inconvenient mess in one’s bag. Furthermore, the tubes cannot be reused or conveniently recycled.
Dental Paper has been imagined as a dehydrated and compressed form of toothpaste that takes the form of paper. It has not yet been realised as a product, but the designers foresee its potential for development using starch. The conceptual paper tape is perforated with holes that allow it to catch the bristles of a toothbrush.
The small portable Dental Paper dispenser is composed of plastic and rubber, and can be reused. It can be opened with a hinge mechanism, and it contains a cog to ensure the free flow of paper off the roll. It dispenses with no need for the user to touch the paper directly, ensuring sanitary conditions and a low risk of bacterial infection. A transparent section of the dispenser allows the user to see how much paper is left inside. |
