Salintest combines the function of existing
salinity-measuring instruments with the familiar
form of the spoon, fork and knife.
Eating too much salt can have a disastrous
effect on the health. In particular, those with
a hypertensive condition, heart patients and
those with diabetes must moderate their salt
intake. Salintest is a combination of spoon,
fork or knife with a salinity-testing instrument.
A sensor in the head of the cutlery measures
the salt content, and the handle changes
colour according to the amount of salt in the
food. The handle changes from white (the
basic colour) to yellow, orange and red. Yellow
indicates a salt content of 0.1%–0.8%. Orange
indicates a salt content of 0.8%–1.2%. Red
indicates a salt content of more than 1.2%.
Colour change is a quick and direct means of
communicating information. Salintest avoids
the fuss associated with digital measuring
instruments; the cutlery form is familiar and
user-friendly. |
