Through the use of familiar natural objects and
a building action that humans have performed
for millennia, we are presented with The Birth
of Natural Radio.
Many people find a degree of comfort and
familiarity in nature, and products are often
given “natural” shapes – made in the “image”
of nature. Humans are, after all, part of nature.
The Birth of Natural Radio makes use of natural stones in combination with an action that humans have performed for millenia – building with stones.
To use this radio, pick up a stone and place it
on the channel pad. The channel changes with
the changing number of stones. Similary, the
volume is increased by increasing the number
of stones placed on the volume pad. Electronic
scales measure the weight of the stones and
signal to the radio component, which responds
accordingly.
