Instead of the usual nuts and bolts, the Binding Rubber furniture range utilises rubber bands to secure its flat components.
Binding Rubber is a furniture range that requires only customised coloured rubber bands for its assembly. The flat timber components have been refined into basic
“minimal” shapes that are flat-packed for lightweight transportation. The edges of the boards are gathered and tightly secured by placing rubber bands around them at their corners. Aside from their functional purpose,
the rubber bands also contribute to the aesthetic of the furniture. Eight rubber bands are all that is needed; no tools are required.
Binding Rubber could easily be mass produced, and can also be manufactured with materials other than timber.
